Due to a distinctive rhizome-dependent system, bamboos are one of the fastest-growing plants in the world and their growth is three times faster than most other species of plants. They are renewable and extremely versatile resource with multi-purpose usage. Among many uses of bamboo, Housing is one of the major areas applications especially in the wake of residential shortages around the globe. Bamboo is gaining attention as a sustainable construction material due to its numerous environmental and practical benefits. Here are some key points:
1. Rapid Growth: Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants in the world, with some species growing up to 3 feet in 24 hours. This rapid growth means it can be harvested frequently without depleting resources.
2. Carbon Sequestration: Bamboo absorbs large amounts of carbon dioxide and releases 35% more oxygen into the atmosphere compared to an equivalent stand of trees, making it highly effective in mitigating climate change.
3. Renewable Resource: Unlike traditional timber, which can take decades to mature, bamboo can be harvested in 3-5 years, making it a more sustainable and renewable resource.
4. Minimal Land Use: Bamboo can be grown on degraded lands that are not suitable for

Besides working extensively during Bihar Kosi Flood rehabilitation, continued to optimise bamboo in different shapes and span as architecture elements for bigger span at Hunnarshala test has been conducted for
1. 50 feet span space frame with the use of bamboo
2. Understructure of 20 feet span and 60 feet long tilting roof
Load testing has been carried out for both the structures and it withstand well for given design load several days within the deflection limit prescribed.
